Another of the tiniest bits of history. This 1938 tag, embroidered (not stamped) in purple thread, was intended to be the guarantee to LDS buyers that their garments purchased from commercial dealers (this was before the Church began manufacturing its own clothing) met the Church’s specifications. This particular tag didn’t serve its purpose long, as manufacturers began sewing it into unapproved styles of clothing.
