Who we lost: Olof Lauritz Ekenstam, 21, Tooele, Utah. Born to Swedish LDS immigrants to Utah. Died of influenza 18 Oct 1918. Funeral conducted by bishop’s counselor; “all spoke of the good deeds and exemplary life of the young man.” A choir sang “I Need Thee Every Hour.”

Reno “Ren” Wagstaff, 25, American Fork, Utah, livestock worker, baptized 1901. He died of influenza while in military training at Fort Logan, Colorado 26 Oct 1918, three weeks after leaving home. Survived by parents, 5 sisters; two other sisters died in the pandemic.

Pearl Wagstaff Tyner, 28, Shelley, Idaho, baptized 1900. Married, the mother of three, she died of influenza 14 Jan 1919 and was buried at American Fork, Utah. A brother and sister also died of influenza that winter.

William Eugene Crandall, 25, Brigham City, Utah. Born in Springville, Utah to lifelong LDS parents, but himself baptized only in March 1918. He died of influenza-induced pneumonia 25 Oct 1918, leaving his bride of less than four months. Funeral conducted by local church leaders.

David Forrest Anderson, 20, Lehi, Utah, a farmer. He was baptized 1906 and sealed to his parents as a young boy. David died of influenza at Lehi 20 Oct 1918 and was buried at his birthplace of Santaquin, Utah. Survived by widowed mother and five siblings.
