“I wonder if some of you realize the hours and the days and the months that are spent by your brothers beautifying the grounds [of Temple Square], making the flowers to bloom and the shrubs to be delightful, the lawns to be kept green. I would like those brethren who do that fine work to know that many of us appreciate it very much. They are helping the people who come here to become interested in the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
– George Albert Smith, October 1948
