Subject-verb agreement in the second line is driving me nuts — but “What are so fitting as GOOD BOOKS?” doesn’t sound right either.
How about “What is so fitting as A GOOD BOOK”? I think it’s technically correct as written, with “good books” being interpreted as a collected noun, but yeah, it grates somehow.
