Stars
By Estelle Webb Thomas
Stars tonight in the purple dark
And a slender, silver sickle moon.
And that restless, poignant ecstasy
That haunts the nights of June.
Stars tonight as on that night
You careless spoke your light goodby;
But you took from me the ecstacy
And the stars from out my sky.

I keep coming back to this; it intrigues me.
That’s high compliment for poetry.
