Turntable

Turntable

By Maude Rubin

Just what would be the dire result
If Junior spoke as an adult
And shouted, “Goodness! How you’ve grown!”
Then in the same inquiring tone
Would brightly go right on to say:
“Let’s see, how old are you today?”
Just what would be the dire result
If Junior spoke to an adult?

  1. Oh it’s tempting! In the hallway going in to Relief Society: “Goodness! How you’ve grown!”

  2. Reminds me of the old joke — it’s been going around so long I can’t find where it started — “my elderly relatives stopped telling me ‘you’re next!’ at weddings when I started saying it to them at funerals.”
