I like Provo a lot, but I don’t know if “Normal” is something you’d learn there…

You probably know this, but for any reader who might not, a “normal school” was one that trained students to be school teachers.
I learned that only in the last few years, because of an in-law who attended a normal school.
My grandmother, born in Springville in 1896, spoke of going over “to the BY” and taking the “normal course.” It’s interesting that the letterhead suggests that the Normal School was considered to be something separate from the university. (Which reminds me of the attitude of a certain former professor at BYU about the folks over in the College of Education.)
