  1. 70 North Main would be about where the Relief Society building is now? The church uses so much of that block for administrative stuff now that it’s weird to think of there being space for a college there.

  2. Yep, that’s the place (“This is the right place. Study on.) The college buildings used to stretch from North Temple (where the Relief Society Building now stands) along Main Street across from the Temple, almost to where the back end of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building now reaches.

    I’m finally able to understand some casual remarks my mother used to make about walking past “the university” to get to Memory Grove where she sometimes ate her lunch when she worked downtown. I couldn’t ever quite figure out how she walked from downtown past the University of Utah and then back to Memory Grove …

  3. When my grandmother’s cousin left the ranch in Wyoming to go to LDS Business College, it was the scandal that never died. Imagine, running off to the big city like that! Becoming “progressive” and all!
