Part 2 of Bill’s magnificent history of the Utah War has just been published by the Arthur H. Clark Co./University of Oklahoma Press. He’s in Utah this week meeting with scholars and speaking to the public. You’re invited to his public events:
TODAY, Thursday, November 10, 7 p.m., Bill will speak to the OCTA (Oregon-California Trails Association) Cross Chapter at the County Building. (I don’t have more information than that, so suppose it is OCTA’S usual meeting place.)
Sunday, November 13, 3:00 p.m., the Friends of the Marriott Library will host Bill at their monthly meeting, in the Library’s Gould Auditorium.
[past:]
[Monday, November 7], at noon, at the Fort Douglas Military Museum (Fort Douglas, Salt Lake City), there will be brown bag lecture and book signing. This event is co-sponsored by the Fort Douglas Military Museum and the Utah State Historical Society. (There is also an event this evening in Ogden, but I’m afraid I don’t have the details of that.)
Tuesday, November 8, 7 p.m., Bill will speak to the Utah Valley Chapter of the Utah Historical Society, specifically about Utah County’s strong connections to the Utah War. This event will be held at the Provo Library on University Ave., in Room 309. (That is apparently a change from the usually meeting room, due to the election.)
Wednesday, November 9, 5:30 p.m., Benchmark Books (3269 So. Main Street, Salt Lake City) is hosting a talk and booksigning. Benchmark events are just about the best place ever to meet and chat intimately not only with the featured speaker but with other bookish folk of all kinds.
We had a great time at Benchmark tonight with Bill.
