  1. With all the innuendo and misinformation in that poster, I thought for a moment that it was an internet meme about the election. Thank goodness this was almost 100 years ago, and Facebook has kept us all much better informed…..

    This silent melodrama is set against the 1840s westward migration of the Mormons. Dora, a young woman, and her family are saved from an Indian attack by a Mormon community traveling to Utah. They join the wagon train. Dora is pursued by two men, one a recent convert, the other a scheming elder with a stable of wives. The Mormon elder wants her in his harem. When the mother kills herself from revulsion toward polygamy, the daughter must consider her own future and the man she loves.

  4. I somehow was recommended this film last week on YouTube. I ended up watching about half of it with a mild horrified interest. There are some rather odd and terribly incorrect scenes in which there seems to be a temple theme, and sadly I’m sure a lot of people 100 years ago assumed these depictions were factual.

    That being said, what an amazing part of our history! Even if it is from someone else’s skewed perspective.
