I see President Monson!
Ha!
just a question. Where was/is College Ave in SLC?
Deseret Gym! The place of employment in the precedent-setting 1988 US Supreme Court case Corporation of Presiding Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints v. Amos (which the church won, and which remains a controversial decision in some quarters, despite being a unanimously decided).
College Ave was in the middle of the block where the Church Office Building, the Relief Society Building, the Hotel Utah and other Church buildings now stand. It ran behind the Hotel Utah, and was probably named “College Ave.” because the LDS University used to stand on that block, directly across from the temple.
Deseret Gym had its physical facilities at several places during the course of the 20th century, all very near each other in downtown Salt Lake, but different blocks. The gymnasium of the 1988 legal decision was at a different location from the gymnasium of this letterhead — it was up the hill behind the present Conference Center (Mark Hoffman blew himself up on the street parked next to that later gymnasium).
