Some names are gender neutral, but names like Marion, Shirley, and Sue seem to be girl names, and they probably cause some degree of predictable agony for the boy. Shirley Young Clawson died 33 years before his brother Chester, possibly because of it.
A lot of girls get along fine with a boy’s name, and a lot of girl’s names are derived from boy’s names.
Actually, Shirley died in an explosive fire in the brothers’ film processing studio in the basement of the Deseret News building, across the street from Temple Square. But your version shows more imagination.
