1. The movie had it’s inital premier in Salt Lake City on October 5 1956.

   Cecil B. Demille was a good friend of President David O Mckay and he had visited the set in Los Angeles.

   Of course Arnold Freiberg a member of the church desinged the sets .

   In the last scene of the movie Moses desingates Joshua as the new leader.

   Demille was unsure how to set the scene up and Frieberg had to demonstrate how one layed on hands.

2. I wondered if John Derek might be Bo Derek’s father.

   He was old enough, but it turns out that he was her husband.

   How nice that he was one of the stars of “The Ten Commandments” and she was the star of “10”. I am confident that there’s some deeper meaning to be found there, but I’ll leave it to others to figure it out.

3. The one he is pointing to says: “Take your stinking paws off me, you d—— dirty ape!”

4. I remember having a major crush on Debra Paget as a 15yo.

5. I don’t think Frieberg was a member back then. Didn’t he join the church late in life?

6. Check and see his wikipedia entry and you will see he was a life long member.

   He was doing his famous illustrations of the Book of Mormon at about the same tine he was working on the movie

7. @Elaine #5: Longtime Keepa readers know Friberg was a member since childhood. His “Chicken of God” is on the back of Enid’s T-shirt.

8. Oh man, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen this movie. Too bad it isn’t on Netflix.

9. Charlton Heston/Moses (even he wasn’t sure at the time) is pointing to the line that says “Manna is People!”
