So what was this association all about?
From the content of the letter I took this from, it seemed to be like a family organization today, an umbrella group of siblings and cousins who had common interests in genealogy, promoting family unity, and conducting financial business in common.
Hmm. George Q. Cannon died April 1, 1901. So his namesake association was formed before his death. I wonder if he approved the use of his portrait. Or if the association decided to memorialize him in this way.
