Ardis, Thanks again for a great photograph. Are montages like this captioned anywhere in the magazine. I’m especially interested in the bottom two. Any guesses?
The montage itself wasn’t captioned, but I’ve seen the one at Niagara Falls published separately, as George and Lucy’s 1892 honeymoon.
The other looks like it might have been taken on one of his trips to dedicate markers on the Mormon Trail, doesn’t it? But which one, I couldn’t guess.
And I suppose we should draw attention to the dates of 1870-1945. This montage was published in 1945, just after GAS was sustained as president of the Church — it isn’t his (1951) death date.
Another possibility for the bottom left is some S.A.R. event–he was constantly being asked to speak at their deals.
I noticed that the current edition of the Friend has a painted montage of John Taylor.
It provided an interesting compare/contrast with the old version covered on Keepa a few months back.
